Improving Creative Connectivity with the Shetland Business Transition Fund
Over the past few weeks, artists using the Gaada workshop have been getting acquainted with a new piece of digital drawing kit, that has been generously part-funded by the Shetland Islands Council Business Transition Fund.
The purchase of a new iPad Pro and 2nd Generation Apple Pencil is enabling Gaada to develop more accessible workflows for artists to connect with digital and rapid prototyping equipment available in the Toogs Art Workshop.
Using the Apple Pencil combined with the iPad Pro provides an intuitive way for folk, particularly those with lower dexterity, to develop digital creative skills, including new laser cutting and 3D printing facilities. Gaada regulars, artists Mari and Struan have already been putting it to full use during their Weekly Workshops, and we cannot wait to reveal some of the exciting new work this new bit of kit has enabled!
This project feeds into the ongoing development of Gaada’s visual artworkshop - a neurodiverse creative community and Shetland’s only publicly available making facility, which was first opened back in 2018.
Gaada is due to relaunch its workshop in Spring 2023, after a further significant capital investment project has been concluded. More news on that in the new year!
