Open Call: 2021/22 Workshop Bursaries
Gaada is inviting individuals based in Shetland to apply for our 2021/22 round of workshop bursaries. These bursaries can be used to support a short project which utilises Gaada’s visual art workshop facilities and staff support to explore new ways of working.
Each bursary includes:
A production budget
4 dedicated 3 hour one-to-one workshop sessions
Support from Gaada staff to develop + realise your project
Some things you could do with a bursary include:
Developing your skills through a printmaking process (such as screen printing, etching, risograph, linocut, or letterpress)
Develop a comic, zine, or artist book
Host a screening, event or exhibition at Gaada
Another project with a visual art focus
A note on applying if you are feeling low in confidence:
Did you read any of this and think any of the following:“Maybe this isn’t for me”, “I’m not good enough”, “It’s been X-number of years since I made anything”, “I don’t know if I’m an artist?” then this opportunity is for you!
Gaada is run by artists - and believe us we know how daunting applications can be!!! We created this opportunity because we hear these words all too often and wanted to create supported workshop bursaries for people to build skills and confidence. These bursaries are awarded to people who have exciting ideas and want to develop something in their creative life. Your idea doesn’t have to be fully formed, in fact, it’s preferable if it’s a bit vague and you are open to trying new techniques! The first sessions take the form of a tutorial, where an experienced tutor and skilled technician will help you formulate your ideas into a plan.
We hope you consider applying!
